Standard Applicability:This standard specifies a performance-based seismic design methodology for nuclear facility structures, which provides a performance-based and consistent probabilistic seismic design for safety-related structures in nuclear facilities to ensure that the nuclear facility can withstand the design basis ground shaking effects and meet the expected performance requirements, expressed as a probabilistic target performance index. The probabilistic target performance index is expressed in terms of the average annual probability of exceeding a specified limit state for a structure. This standard applies to the seismic design of new nuclear facility structures.
