Standard Applicability:This standard applies to the detection of dissolved metals (from overheating or arc discharge, or both) and partially suspended metal particles (usually from wear) in insulating oils. If the elemental concentration in the insulating oil exceeds the upper limit of the standard curve, it can be diluted by adding appropriate diluents and measured without affecting the precision. The analytical results are related to the size of the suspended particles, particle size greater than a few microns of the measurement results are low, therefore, this standard is not applicable to the quantitative determination of insoluble suspended particles.
