Standard Applicability:This document includes a description of the concepts, techniques, and limitations of the finite element method (FEM) and specifies models and procedures for FEM validation and uncertainty assessment when used to determine the spatial peak specific absorption rate (SAR), provides recommendations and guidance for the modeling of wireless communications equipment, and provides baseline data for synthetic SAR in such models and procedures. This document does not recommend specific SAR limits. This document applies to mathematical models for determining the spatially averaged peak specific absorption rate (SAR) in human anatomical models using finite element simulations of electromagnetic field conditions generated by wireless communication devices to determine the SAR.
