Standard Applicability:This standard specifies the general requirements for surgical gauze dressings made of skimmed cotton gauze or skimmed cotton and viscose blended gauze and the requirements for packaging and labeling. Surgical gauze dressings specified in this standard can be aseptic supply or non-sterile supply. Its varieties mainly include abdominal towels, gauze swabs (rolls or balls) gauze blocks and so on. NOTE:Appendix A recommends gauze types for X-ray detectable surgical gauze dressings. This standard does not address the requirements for the types of antibiotics and their content in surgical gauze containing antibiotic drugs.
