Standard Applicability:This standard specifies the classification and requirements for polymer-based crown and bridge materials, as well as the test methods corresponding to the requirements of these standards. This standard applies to polymer-based crown and bridge materials for fabrication of permanent veneers or anterior crowns in the technician’s office with or without contact with metal surfaces. This Standard also applies to polymer-based crown and bridge materials that are claimed by the manufacturer to be bonded to a metal substrate without the aid of a protrusion or grid retention on the metal substrate. This Standard does not apply to polymer-based materials for crowns, veneers, or restorations used in direct restorations, or to those used in posterior bearing areas.
