Standard Applicability:This document specifies the classification and labeling, requirements, testing methods, marking and instructions for use, packaging and storage of positive pressure air-supplied respirators for medical use. This document applies to the medical work environment or other assessed risk of exposure to aerosols of pathogenic microorganisms, used to filter microbial particles in the air, block droplets, blood and other pollutants of positive pressure air-fed respiratory defense. This document does not apply to powered air-fed respirators for protection against toxic and hazardous gases, nor does it apply to respirators for industrial dust, combustion, explosion, hypoxic environments and escape.
