Standard Applicability:This standard applies to the basic safety and essential performance requirements for infant transfer incubators, such as infant transfer incubators. This standard specifies safety requirements for infant transfer incubators, except that a conformity alternative that demonstrates equivalent safety through a special clause may be considered conforming if the manufacturer states in its risk management documentation that the risk posed by the hazard is at an acceptable level compared to the therapeutic benefit of the device. This standard does not apply to: medical heating devices that supply heat through blankets, pads, and mattresses; infant incubators that are not infant transfer incubators; infant radiant warming tables; and infant phototherapy devices.
