Standard Applicability:This standard applies to the definition of radiation conditions in test procedures for characterization of systems or components of medical diagnostic X-ray equipment. This standard defines two types of radiation conditions, namely, primary radiation conditions in which scattered radiation can be ignored to a better approximation (RQR, RQA, RQC, RQT, RQB, RQN-M, and RQB-M) and radiation conditions in which scattered radiation is included for the purpose of simulating a patient (RQN, RQB, RQN-M, and RQB-M). With the exception of mammography, this standard does not apply to those improved radiation beam characteristics that deliberately select certain radiation absorbers (e.g., rare earths) that result in spectral discontinuities. This standard replaces YY/T 0481-2004 “Medical diagnostic X-ray equipment to determine the characteristics of the radiation conditions used”.
