Standard Applicability:This standard applies to dry-seal valve-type chest drainage devices that can either perform gravity drainage or be connected to a negative pressure suction system to realize suction drainage. This standard specifies the requirements for aseptically supplied dry-seal valve-type single-use chest drainage devices. This standard does not apply to thoracic drainage catheters inserted into the patient’s thoracic cavity and autologous blood return systems on thoracic drainage devices with autologous blood return systems.
