Standard Applicability:This standard specifies: –Test methods for measuring the performance of pulsed Doppler ultrasound systems; –Doppler test pieces for performing these tests. This standard applies to: –Tests on pulsed Doppler ultrasound systems as a whole, which have not been disassembled into subsystems or disconnected from each other; –Tests on pulsed Doppler ultrasound systems, which may be stand-alone or as part of other ultrasound instruments. This standard does not address electrical safety, acoustic safety, or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In general, the amount of work involved in performing tests involving all of the described tests would be overwhelming, so the expectation is that a selection of them will be used routinely. However, experience should still be gathered to guide the selection and be the subject of ongoing work.
