Standard Applicability:This document specifies terms and definitions, requirements, test methods and labeling for devices for the treatment of water for hemodialysis and related treatments. This document applies to devices that treat domestic potable water for transmission for use in hemodialysis and related treatments. This document applies to all devices, piping and fittings between the point of delivery of domestic potable water into the water treatment system and the point of dialysis water use. This document does not apply to dialysate supply systems (proportional distribution of water and concentrate to produce dialysate), adsorber dialysate regeneration systems (regenerate and recirculate small quantities of dialysate, dialysate concentrates), hemodialysis filtration systems, hemofiltration systems, systems used for the treatment of dialyzers that can be used more than once, and peritoneal dialysis systems. This document also does not apply to the continuous monitoring of the purity of water used for dialysate, concentrate preparation or dialyzer reprocessing.
