Standard Applicability:This standard specifies an arbitration test method for evaluating the characteristics of single-use ureteral stents with fixation devices at both ends, which are used for short-term applications to drain urine from the kidneys to the bladder. These stents usually have a diameter of 3.7Fr to 14.0Fr and a length of 8㎝ to 30㎝, and are made of silicone rubber, urethane, and other polymers, and are supplied in two forms: non-sterile supply for use after sterilization in hospitals, and sterile supply for single-use. The product may be left in place for a long period of time (more than 30 days), but it is not common, and this standard does not apply to ureteral stents that are left in place for a long period of time, nor does it apply to ureteral stents that are not for ureteral applications (such as nephrostomies and ileostomies). This standard also does not apply to non-sterile ureteral stents because of the variability in hospital sterilization equipment and processes that affect stent characteristics.
