Standard Applicability:This document establishes requirements for small aperture connectors intended to be used in connection with axonal applications. Axillary applications involve the use of medical devices intended for the administration of drugs to axillary sites, the administration of traumatic infiltration anesthesia, and other local anesthesia procedures, or the monitoring or drainage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. This document specifies the dimensions of these small aperture connectors intended for use in medical devices, as well as requirements for design and functional characteristics. This document does not specify requirements for medical devices or accessories that utilize these connectors. These requirements are given in the standards for the specialized medical devices or accessories.
