Standard Applicability:This standard specifies a test method for laboratory measurement of the strength of a thermal seal between thermoplastic surfaces of soft materials after the formation of a seal and before cooling to ambient temperature (thermal adhesion strength). This standard applies to test apparatus capable of automatically heat-sealing a specimen and rapidly determining the thermal seal strength within a precise time after the end of the sealing cycle. This standard does not apply to manual procedures using non-instrumented procedures such as springs, control levers, pulleys, and weights.
