Standard Applicability:This standard specifies a test method for determining the X-ray resistivity of materials using a standard aluminum plate as a standard. The method is designed to differentiate between clinically significant levels of X-ray resistivity without regard to factors affecting accuracy, and without regard to its own factors affecting X-ray resistivity (e.g., background noise, X-ray energy, grayscale calibration, and image enhancement). Although, these influences can change the value of the X-ray resistivity, they cannot change the corresponding trend when compared to a standard thickness standard (e.g. aluminum). This test can be accomplished with either conventional or digital sensing technology in dental x-ray machines.
