Standard Applicability:This standard specifies a system for marking the position of the implant body in the jaw and is to be used in conjunction with the system described in ISO 3950. This standard applies to the indication of the position of the implant body in the jawbone and does not in itself indicate whether the appliance is visible in the oral cavity, whether there is a mucosal penetration or whether there is an implant restoration. Because this system describes position rather than restorative form, there is no need to use the numbers 5 through 8, which are used to indicate quadrants when in the dentition of a baby tooth.This information should be documented in the patient’s file by the appropriate clinician and made available to the patient by the clinician providing care.
