YY/T 1714-2020 Standard Methods for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Non-Modular Metallic Orthopaedic Hip Femoral Stems

Standard Number: YY/T 1714-2020(YY/T1714-2020)
Chinese:非组合式金属髋关节股骨柄有限元分析标准方法
English:Standard Methods for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Non-Modular Metallic Orthopaedic Hip Femoral Stems

Effective Date:2021-06-01
ICS:11.040.40
Standard Applicability:This standard specifies the requirements and considerations for numerical simulation methods to be used in the stress and strain analysis of non-composite metal hip femoral stems (i.e., one-piece femoral stems limited to those that fit to the femoral head by means of a tapered connection) using finite element analysis (FEA) techniques. This standard applies only when the stresses are below the yield strength (which can be obtained from the bill of materials). This standard specifies requirements and considerations for finite element model development for the purpose of predicting static stresses and strains in implants in the evaluation of femoral stems for non-composite metallic hip joints. This standard applies to the evaluation of worst-case scenarios across a range of implant specifications to improve the efficiency of physical testing. Procedures for model checking and validation are recommended in this standard to help determine whether the FEA follows the requirements in this standard. This standard recommends what should be included in a mechanical simulation engineering report. This standard applies only to the static structural analysis of femoral stems of noncomposite metal hip joints and does not include the prediction of fatigue strength.
